Donna Troy as Lady Troy

So I have done this particular version of Donna a number of times. I just like this version of her a lot. So the idea is the Donna was the little sister of Wonder Woman but eventually finds out she is actually a goddess with vast cosmic power that was hidden on Paradise Island by the Amazons so that she would not be killed by the other gods. While on Paradise Island she is trained as a fighter and hones her powers in secret, until she met a young Robin, Flash, and Aqualad and became a Teen Titan!

As a celestial demi-goddess Donna can lift (press) close to 95 tons, her cosmic awareness gives her empathic powers and mild clairvoyance, and she can use her cosmic energies to rearrange matter or shoot powerful beams of force. She carries a golden lasso that she can mentally control to ensnare enemies and wears gauntlets she uses to deflect magic attacks (not so much for bullets since her skin is strong enough to take a mortar shell at close range).

Human Target Redesign

Its no secret that I love Dick Grayson but I am not a fan of the Nghtwing persona. What I loved that Marv Wolfman did with Dick in Teen Titans was he had him be this master of disguise. And I thought that would be perfect if Dick became like this super spy. So like Batman before him Dick goes all around the world and learns from the best only he goes to the superhero community to learn. And soo gathering different tech from others and going with the joke that he was a human target as Robin all those years Dick becomes The Human Target! So I wanted to keep him within the same color palette he had as Robin but update it with some gadgets. He still has his Escrima sticks, and shoes that can stick to walls, gloves that give an electrical shock and the Questions mask that allows him to change his appearance as he sees fit.

Queen Bee Redesign

Karen Beecher was working again overnight at her office at Star labs when she saw a boom tube open and agents from Darkseid appeared to take her and her research away. But they were soon defeated by The Teen Titans and that folks was it! She had to et into that! Designing a suit and enhancing herself by manipulating her genetic code she became Queen Bee, able to fire darts that can shock a persons nervous system, fly at high speed thanks to mechanical wings, and control insects with her headband. Her and Guardian are now members of the Teen Titans.

I originally wasnt going to do her but lets face it she was the first back female superhero for DC.... So I had to!

Guardian Redesign

Before there was Cyborg, there was Mal Duncan. Now Mal has had a bizarre history. Some of which were completely thrown out and denied. Im bringing it back. At one point Mal got himself a supersuit and became Guardian and then he got some horn and became even lamer. Here is my idea for him.

While working for Star Labs security guard Mal watches as agents from Apokalips enter and try to steal some of the experiments of Dr. Karen Beecher. Mal rushed to help but was knocked aside and was about to be killed if not for the timely intervention of Lady Troy, The Flash , and The Human Target. When the heroes looked like they were about to loose Mal grabbed some Apokalipse tech and and defeated the baddies. After that, using the tech left by the invading force Star Labs created a suit and weaponry for Mal for his new role as Chief Security Officer as The Guardian. His exosuit grants him superhuman strength and increases his speed and durability. He carries a shield that can create a forceshield and he carries a horn that depending on what pitch he hits can do a number of things; like open portals to other dimensions, create localized blizzards, or life like illusions.

Wally West Flash Redesign

So Wally West is the Flash for me. Barry is just to freaking boring! So no change to Wally's story really. Anyway with this design I wanted Wally to still be a teenager so he was still growing. Massive legs while the rest of him is slimmer because of all the running. I wanted his costume to be sleek and shiny and I tried to be somewhat different from his last costume. You let me know if it worked.

Aqualad Redesign

Born an exile amongst the other Atlantians due to his lineage he was soon found by Aquaman and trained to use his many gifts; Garth took the name Aqualad in honor of his mentor.

So here is what I imagine Garth could look like as the new Aqualad. Using specials cells in his skin he can become almost invisible in the water or create blinding light; he can swim faster than most planes can fly in the air, project needles from his forearms that contain a neurotoxin, or use his incredible strength to lift (press) 65 tons.

For this design I wanted to go a different rout than I usually do with my aquatic guys. I wanted to make him colorful without using the same old colors of blue or green. The idea is he lives in the great barrier reefs and so his color should reflect that.

Silver Scarab as Silverwind

So this character is a combination of Hector Hall the Silver Scarab and the Hawk's godson Northwind; introducing Sliverwind (since Silverhawk was already taken). Using Nth metal to create a power suit Hector leads Infinty Inc. using the teachings from his father who led the JSA for most of its existence. Silverwind can fly as fast as Mach3 and his energy armor can absorb kinetic energy and use it by bolstering his strength and speed as well as make weapons like his energy mace.

Nuklon Redesign

Being born a mutant is not always a great thing. Al Rothstein learned this the hard way. His mother was the daughter of the villain Cyclotron who's radiation powers Al would later develop as he got older. But soon the radiation got out of control and Al now needs to wear an armored suit to contain the radiation he produces. His powers make him able to lift about 85 tons, grow to the size of about 15 feet, or allow him to increase or decrease his mass so he can become as hard as a diamond or phase through walls. Taking the name Nuklon Al designed his suit to resemble the one his grandfathers (Al Prat the original Atom and Terence Curtis Cyclotron) wore.

Dr. Midnight Redesign

Todd Rice had a very difficult life, with an abusive foster parent he could have become another victim but instead wanted to become a survivor. Taking up with his studies the young Todd would become a physician of many fields and has become the super hero communities resident doctor. Going by the name Midnight as a homage to the original Dr. Midnite, Todd is fighting crime and mending bones as a member of Infinity Inc!

Jennie-Lynn Hayden had a good life, foster parents that loved her and a power that allowed her to do so many great things. But it came with a price, she was born green and on a day when her concentration faltered she showed the other children her true appearance. The children chased her away and right into traffic. Jennie was hit by a car and was left as a paraplegic. But one day she realized her pulse allowed her to leave her body as pure starheart energy. Now going as the name Jade she joins her twin brother as a member of Infinity Inc!

Lyta Trevor was raised as an Amazon. But she was not an Amazon, daughter of the insane Helena Kosmatos she was a girl with no friends except for Wonder Woman who trained the girl in secret and helped her get her magical armaments. Like her shield and armor which were made by Athena herself and her own bolts of lightning given to her by Zues after she saved him from his mad Titan Cronus. So taking the name Fury like her mother she fights for the weak and innocent with Infinity Inc!

Brainwave Jr redesign

Brainwave Jr and his mighty mind! I wanted to make my Brainwave to be like his old man with a misshapen head and short. I mean have you seen what his dad looked like, there is no way he would look normal. So I mad his brain look like it absorbed his skull and his head is all brain baby! So this short and out of shape kid is able to use his mind to lift several tons, read minds, or caste illusions. Although Powerful he has to work on his stamina and precision.

Infinity Inc Redesign

So I did that Hourman redesign a few months back and I wanted to tackle the rest of Infinity Inc! So here they are the rest of my Infiniters. Didn't include Skyman cause I just didn't want to. So from right to left: Fury, Midnight, Silverwind, Nuklon, Hourman, Jade, and Brainwave Jr.

The group is led by Silverwing AKA Hector Hall son of the Hawks. With his Nth metal space armor he is unbeatable in the air. Fury uses her Amazonian power and her armor from Athena and Zues lightning to fight evil. Midnight AKA Todd Rice, uses his shadow powers for good but is most useful as the team's doctor while his sister Jennie-Lynn Hayden otherwise known as Jade is the resident lady of the green flame. And rounding off the team is Rick Tyler as Hourman who has a different power each hour and Henry King Jr better known as Brainwave Jr and his mighty mind!

Going way back to the 80's where we had the Teen Titans and the kids of the JSA, Infinity Inc! Dick Greyson is the Human Target, Hourman whos powers change every hour, Fury the invincible amazon with weapons of the gods, the man of metal might Cyborg, Aqualad scion of the sea, Silver Wing (since Silverhawk is taken) son of the hawks with his Nth metal solar armor, Lady Troy celestial amazon of peace, Jade the starheart personified, and Atom Smasher able to increase or decrease his size and mass and the man who can move faster than light itself (just as long as his mouth doesnt get in the way) Wally West the Flash.

So this is my re-imagining of the founding members of the Avengers and Cappy America. I'm still using my old Yellow Jacket and Wasp but I gave Janet a vizor since most people wanted to see her face. Cap has been given a full armored look since we have Tony Stark ready to help out with his designing skills to make Cap the soldier of the future. Thor is set up with a more Viking look for my tastes and Tony is in my Project Rooftop armor. And last but never least is The Hulk but mine is more radioactive walking bomb than lumbering brute. So the Avengers are squaring off against Kang and his many legions of future bots! I wanted Kang to look closer to his Pharaoh look.

What if there were no Avengers because Tony Stark died in Korea, Thor was never sent to Earth, David Banner died trying to save young Rick Jones, and Henry Pym died while fighting the alien menace to save billionaire Janet Van Dyne.

Well here is one example of what could be: An Avengers team sponsored by the mercenary Puma and miss Va Dyne. With Reed "The Thing" Richards and his assistant Roger Boches in his Box armor. Kitty Pryde AKA Shadowcat the best spy/thief in the business. The Emissary of the Kree Empire Carol Danvers as Captain Marvel. Dane Whitman as the mystical warrior and all around science bad ass the Black Knight and the team powerhouse Richard Rider as the Comet (based off of Marvels Comet-Man).

Model 6

Professor Horatio Goodson had a vision of creating an artificial intelligence that could mimic a human in every way. After decades of work, he had completed design on thirteen different models but only Model 6 was successful. Moments after activating Model 6’s anamorphic matrix, which allows her to change her form, Goodson was mortally wounded by his competitor Maximilian Whitechapel. With Goodson dying in her arms, Model 6 promised she would stop Whitechapel and traveled to New York where she befriended a young runaway named Billy who teaches her how to better understand her own humanity. Model 6 fights Whitechapel and the forces of evil by transforming into one of six different super heroines that are exaggerated pieces of her personality:

Silver Boxer is a no nonsense African American who’s an accomplished pugilist and has hard silver skin that gives her a high degree of invulnerability.

Human Torch alight no more

In a move to once again show how Marvel is the front runner in imaginative and innovative storytelling the Fantastic Four has lost its most stellar member, the Human Torch. Really Marvel? You kill off the Human Torch? And thats going to change Marvel for ever?! You should have killed Reed, I mean he is the smartest man in the universe. Hell, it would have had more of an impact if it was the freaking Thing! But no, we kill off the kid who has to say "flame on!" Marvel you really do suck in too many ways to mention..... but I will try.

Now I dont think Marvel was the first to come up with the whole if a comic is failing kill the character off thing, I think that was DC and you know what that was groundbreaking!! DC has done a lot of stuff that Marvel just tries to bite! Marvel hasnt done anything and I mean anything original since the death of Gwen Stacey story line, no wait I mean the Dark Phoenix story line sorry. Marvel just bites what new, its not about story its about whatever is now. And you know what thats not how it should be. You should set the trend not follow it! Now back to the FF.

Mark Waid and the late great Mike Wieringo proved that you could make The Fantastic Four could be a fun, enjoyable, and innovative team to read about! I thought sales were good so why kill off the only person anybody can relate to? And dont tell me kids or even adults can relate to Ben Grimm cause when you boil it down everybody wants to fly and shoot flame outta their hands instead of being a blue eyed always on the outside of the party cause of his "monsterous" appearance. Now MArvel and I havent been on the best of terms and this might be setting up a much bigger story in which we see how Ben deals with the loss of his best bud, or Sue with with no brother and how she wasnt there to protect her little brother or Reed who now has more guilt cause another person was hurt because of one of his hair brained ideas. If Reed goes down the path of Mr. Impossible I will say nice idea Marvel (but then again not there idea really). I dont know Marvel, I have known that somebody in the FF was going to die but I was hoping it was going to be one of the kids cause that really would have been original (even though its already happened to Aquaman).

It just seems that Marvel has now figured out that if you want sales to go up or free publicity kill off a character. Worked for Captain America but then again his book didnt need it cause his sales were very good best in years and you know why that is kids? Solid story telling!!!!! So now the press is making a big deal about it and everybody will probably go buy this book because we all now comic book characters stay dead dont we?! the FF will see a rise in sales in there Trade Paperbacks (I refuse to call the Graphic Novels) and then somehow Johnny will come back or maybe it will be one of the kids who will somehow become a teenager over the san of a few issues to fill the void.

Course now we have Vampires about to make the Marvel Universe's landscape change "forever" so its just all up in the air for me, so I guess Johnny buying it is kinda a blessing. He doesnt have to see what other crap the Marvel higher ups are going to throw our way. RIP Johny Storm the only Human Torch in my book.

Do I hate comics or am I just jaded?

A friend and I were talking about if I hated comics or if Im just too jaded to enjoy them in my old age (an ancient 35). Well allow me to tell you my response. I'm jaded because I dont see why comics cant be crazy and fantastic and must be gritty and cynical these days. Why cant the hero be an individual that wants to be something better and not just some asshole who says "fuck you" and beats up bad guys just because he can. Seems that is all you get these days, thanks to so many writers and artists wanting to do their own version of the Watchman and Dark Knight Returns. Now dont get me wrong, I dont think that trying to bring some realism to stories is a bad thing, but lets face it kids, if Superman really existed 9/11, Hurricane Katrina, hell even the Vietnam War (Im not calling it "conflict" so it sounds like we didnt lose a fight) would not have happened. We are talking about people who wear tights and bright ass colored underwear who can fly and lift mountains, so lets just stop thinking this is the real world here.

I remember when Warren Ellis and Bryan Hitch brought us The Authority. We were all so happy to see Superman and Batman really beating the shit out of people as the gay couple Apollo and Midnighter. Hitch's art was astounding, each page was more beautiful then the last... but where are those characters now? The easy answer is "Who cares?". When Ellis and Hitch left you had writers come and reduce characters, who werent really all that 2 dimensional to begin with, into cookie cut outs. Say something "witty", punch head off of bad guy, and then say something else "witty" (rinse and repeat if necessary), was the norm. I never really felt like there was anybody to root for. Heroes werent heroes just assholes who liked to break people. These comics are for those that dont have that awe in them anymore to me. There is no bright light at any end, of any tunnel, anywhere. Life sucks, so smoke a cig if you got it, kick some dude in the balls, go screw some catwoman clone at the end of the day before you put a cosmic bullet in your brain after saying something prolific that in the end just sounds stupid.

Where is the wonder? Where is that sense of reading something amazing? Have we grown up so burnt out that we cant feel that anymore or is there nothing out there that is good enough to reach that long bricked up kid we once were? Is there no book that can be compared to Chris Claremont's & John Byrne's soap opera run on X-men? Or a comic that hits your funny bone and your heart strings like Giffen's & DeMatteis' Justice League? Or is everything just a copy of Mark Millar's Wanted or Kick-Ass?

Well, here are some that truly hit me as why comics are just as fantastic as when I was a kid. Geoff Johns' Green Lantern, Todd Dezago's and Craig Rousseau's The Perhapanauts, the duo known as DnA's Nova, Greg Pak's and Fred Van Lente's The Incredible Hercules, Robert Kirkman's & Cory Walker's (with Ryan Ottley) Invincible, Mark Waid's Flash run as well as his and Mike Wieringo's Fantastic Four, are just a few that are not afraid to embrace the amazing and fun side of superheroes.

These comics demonstrate what talented people can do with a cast of characters that develop in interesting and real ways without resorting to the norm of gritty and dark that seems to sum up all that superheroes can do these days. Yes, some of them are rich, some are gods, some are just plain monsters but these books are able to find that "Holly Crap, this is cool" moment (like when Invincible first goes into space or when The Human Torch ends up working for Galactus) or that spark of humanity and vulnerability within all of us (like when Ben Grimm takes on the form of The Thing again to make sure the world is not without a Mr. Fantastic or Hal Jordan not wearing his ring when he flies jets so he stays on his toes), that helps us (or at the very least me) connect to these characters. They make them real, flawed real people that happen to be able to shoot beams from there eyes.

So its not that I hate comics, I love them! I love reading a great story and seeing an artists idea of the magical world we the readers wish we were in. I love the awe and spectacle of it all. And Im not saying grim and gritty doesnt have its place, Invincible has shown us that it can be done without being a Wolverine or a rabid Batman rip-off. And although I am more jaded with age, my hide thicker with years of the "real" world beating me down as it's prone to do, I am not jaded when it comes to comics, just writers/artist who think if heroes really existed they would be Superman on acid. Heroes are meant to be like us, flawed and damaged individuals who sometimes dont really know what the best course of action is but are always trying to do the right thing. Fighting the forces of evil with not just their powers but with their humanity, courage, intelligence and even humor. And I dont see why they cant continue to do so.

How do you tell your grandfather that the person he keeps asking for is you, when he wont believe you at all? How do you tell this man, who now thinks you are some hood trying to steal from him, that the grandson he keeps asking for is right in front of him? I will tell you how... you dont. You sit there and wait and hope that eventually he will see you as you and not some figment of his imagination. The worst part is he knows he is wrong and he just cant connect the dots. Or even when he does he forgets all of it a moment later and you start the whole thing again. Its frustrating for me but I know it is worse for him.

Starting training on a new job this coming week and although I welcome the steady income I really dont know if its going to make me any happier. Ive done the corporate thing before and I gotta say it's really not my thing. I mean yeah I could afford things but I was pretty miserable and I gained like 20 pounds for christ sakes! Variety reported Wednesday that Guy Ritchie, director of such films as “Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrells” and “Snatch,” has signed on to direct a feature film based on Lobo, the ultraviolent DC Comics character created by Keith Giffen and Roger Slifer.

The film will be produced for Warner Bros. by Joel Silver, Akiva Goldsman and Andrew Rona, with the most recent script written by Don Payne.

According to Variety, the story at present will depict Lobo as “a seven-foot tall, blue-skinned, indestructible and heavily muscled anti-hero who drives a pimped outmotorcycle, and lands on Earth in search of four fugitives who are bent on wreaking havoc.” In this version of the film, Lobo will team-up with a “small town teenaged girl” to stop the villains.

Production is to begin next year on what WB aims to be a PG-13 film.

I have finally come to the realization that Facebook is way to much of a hassle to continue with. Always having to be witty with your posts. Everybody trying to be interesting.... ugh. Who needs that. And its all just too easy for everybody to be in your business all the time. One bad move and that photo you posted while drunk at three in the morning is saved for somebody to give you shit for it later on in your life. Well no more. Least now I can concentrate on this site which has been sorely lacking lately. Here is my entry for the newest contest over at project rooftop featuring everybody's favorite Canadian (besides Puck from Alpha Flight of course) Wolverine!!

The idea for this redesign is to go back to his first appearance as an agent of Weapon X. So he gets an upgrade with some equipment like infrared goggles, audio hookup, body armor, and every super agent needs a gun (even gave him some cases for his cigars). I wanted him to be like a small tank stocky and just built to do damage. So on those rare occasions that he doesnt use his claws he is outfitted with adamantium Gauntlets, Knee & shin guards and steel tipped boots to kick the crap outta anybody that pisses him off. Here is my version of an evil Fantastic Four. They are called the Hypernauts (no connection to the saturday morning show from like a decade ago). The leader is the man with the big cybernetic arm, his name is Edgar Hyper. He's the super scientist who doesnt mind getting his hands dirty by murdering other brain types and stealing their ideas. The lady next to him is his wife a goddess of discord who goes by the name Eris, and their two kids Samuel and Hayley Hyper. They are a constant pain in Captain Neutron's ass and are a formidable force for science gone bad.

Well I didnt win the Batman 2.0 at Project Rooftop. You know I dont think they read at all any of the background people might send with their drawings... which makes sense cause if you dont hit a home run visually it doesnt matter what explanation you try and give your guy having this or that. So Im kinda depressed... make that really depressed about the whole thing, but Chris Arrant gave me a 9 outta 10 so that makes me happy. Anyway this is the design that should have won the whole thing (he got 1st prize but he should have gotten grand prize ya ask me). His name is Daniel Heard, look him up!!! You should see the mock ups for the costume, sensational stuff. Anyway I am going to start drinking now to wallow in my looserness. laters.

Avengers Assemble to smash!!

Now after the Hulk blasts through the Xmen you know who comes next... The Avengers!! I loved the 80's roster and so I featured many of them here. I took some liberties with some of the costumes and looks for them so they're not completely accurate. So we got Captain America leading Scarlet Witch, Captain Marvel (hated her Photon codename) Goliath, Ms. Marvel (who should just be called Captain Marvel these days) Hawkeye, and the Wasp. Of course Cap doesn't do anything without a plan B to Z so Ironman, Vision, and Hercules are sneaking up behind the green behemoth (of course that's Spider-Man all the way in the back) while Thor holds back for Cap's signal. Can't wait to ink and color this.

Here is a piece I'm working on. Just at the sketch stage right now. If you haven't guessed it's the Hulk about to get into a big time fight with the Xmen. He has as you can see already taken care of the midget with the claws. I went with the 80's era Xmen, but as you can tell I went with Storm's original outfit and Shadowcat's blue costume. Of course Beast, Iceman, and Angel were part of the Defenders at this point but what the hell...
